When it comes to the movers and shakers in Dayton, Ohio, Christian Fiction novelist Dorinda D. E. Nusum must definitely be counted as one of them.  Ms. Nusum, who is a native of Bermuda, has been a resident of Dayton for seven years.

Since moving to Dayton, Ms. Nusum has been a teacher of English/Language Arts at the local juvenile correctional facility.  She has also been a foster parent for several years, and has still found time to pen four well-received Christian novels.  Her titles include Sins and Sacrifices, The Victory, Afflicted, and her newest book, The Back Pew Crew, which tells of four busybodies who cause confusion in their church.  The Back Pew Crew is scheduled for release in September.

Each of Nusum's novels deals with issues Christians face.  "It's not easy being a Christian. We fall down, but my books serve to inspire Christians to get back up again.  They are also meant to provide enlightenment to those who are searching.  I try to ensure that the messages contained within my books are profound, but not preachy.  I strive to present trying life situations in a lighthearted manner.

Readers have reported that my books have taken them on a roller coaster of emotions.  "They have made me smile and they have made me cry," said one.  "I have a hard time putting your books down," said another.

Ms. Nusum has quickly become a familiar face in Dayton.  Book signings have been hosted in her honor at various locations around the city and surrounding area.  Among those locations are Barnes and Nobles Booksellers, Books and Company, the Christian Bookstore, and at many local churches.  Ms. Nusum was also featured in the February edition of the Dayton Weekly News.

Ms. Nusum says the most enjoyable part of her literary career is meeting the public.  She loves to discuss her books with interested parties.  "I am a bit inhibited when it comes to formal interviews, but I very much enjoy talking with people face to face.  I prefer the intimacy.  I am down to earth.  Therefore, I don't often oblige formal requests for interviews."

Ms. Nusum is a member of Solid Rock Church in Monroe, Ohio, under the leadership of Co-Pastors Lawrence and Darlene Bishop.  She is a wife to Demetrius Buycks, and a mother to two sons, Deonte and Jayden.  Ms. Nusum holds a Bachelor's degree in English and Sociology and a Masters degree in the Leadership of Educational Organizations.
